100 Years Ago: 1922

The Girls Friendly club of the Sixth Street Church met with Miss Edith Dunn of Seventh Street, Auburn, Monday evening. After a short business meeting with the new officers in the chairs, a social hour was enjoyed and refreshments were served by the hostess. There were 20 present. The next meeting will be with Miss Harriett Brackett.

50 Years Ago: 1972

Officers of the two hospital auxiliaries and the county medical association auxiliary will serve as hostesses at a joint luncheon at the Steckino Restaurant Friday noon. Mrs. Vincent H. Beeker of Lewiston, vice president of the of St. Mary’s General Hospital, Mrs. Gerard Morin, vice president of the Androscoggin County Medical Auxiliary and Mrs. John D. Clifford, vice president of the Central Maine General Hospital Association will greet guests at the social hour preceding the luncheon. The speaker for the joint meeting will be Mrs. Edmund S. Muskie.

25 Years Ago: 1997

Abbie Gendron, a freshman at Lewiston High School, has been accepted to travel with the Young Continentals, a group of young people who travel around the country performing Christian music programs. Gendron, daughter of Mark and Janice Gendron of 69 Farwell St., Lewiston, saw the Continentals perform at the East Auburn Baptist Church last fall. She auditioned for the group and was accepted. She will leave in mid-July for an eight-day rehearsal camp in Kansas City, Mo., before leaving for four weeks to perform 20 to 26 concerts in Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming. Montana, Idaho, Oregon, California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.
