Stephen Kyrkostas started the scoring and ended it for the Johnstown Tomahawks on Saturday night.
Kyrkostas’ first goal tied the game in the first period and he later capped off the Tomahawks’ 7-2 victory over the Maine Nordiques in NAHL action at The Colisee in Lewiston.
Patrick Schmiedlin opened the scoring for the Nordiques in the first period, with Kadsen Johnson and Theo Thrun notching assists.
Kyrkostas tied the game with just over two minutes left in the opening frame.
The Tomahawks scored three goals (Sean Ramsay, Holt Oliphant, Zachary Murray) in the first 7:14 of the second period to jump ahead 4-1.
Aidan Connolly stopped the Johnstown scoring spree with a shorthanded goal 14 minutes into the middle frame, with Evan Orloff providing the assist. But the Tomahawks answered 60 seconds later off the stick of Egan Schmitt.
Noah Wagner scored with just over a minute left in the second to make it 6-2.
Oliphant picked up his second assist of the night on Kyrkostas’ second goal with 13 minutes left in the game.
Gus Holt got the start in goal for Maine and stopped 16 shots before being relieved after giving up his fourth goal of the game. Avery Sturtz made 11 saves in his nearly 33 minutes of duty.
Matthew O’Donnell stopped 31 of 33 shots for Johnstown.
