Maria T. Flores
LEWISTON – Maria T. Flores, 88, of 36 Sylvan Avenue, Lewiston, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2022, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Born in Juarez, Mexico on Dec. 4, 1933, she was the daughter of Jose and Ignacia Torres Valadez. She married Rudolph Flores on Dec. 29, 1951, and they moved to Maine in 1968. Mr. Flores passed away on May 30, 2016.Besides being a devoted wife and mother, Maria also worked at the Bates Mill and Philips-Elmet for many years. She was a devout Catholic, attending St. Patrick’s Church until its closure and Ss. Peter Paul Basilica afterwards. Maria was known for her traditional Mexican cooking, including feeding the entire Lewiston High School football team when her sons played.She is survived by three sons, Eduardo and Pauline of Poland, Rudy Jr. and wife Leslie of Augusta, and Martin of Yarmouth, two daughters, Altagracia Travers of Mechanic Falls, and Maria Christie of Lewiston, two brothers, Jose and Cirilo Torres, both of Juarez, three sisters, Gloria, Rosita, and Alicia Torres of Juarez, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, John.Services will be held at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home on Monday, January 24, with Visitation from 9-11 a.m., and a Liturgy of the Word Service at 11 AM.
