POLAND — Regional School Unit 16 officials will hold a districtwide meeting Tuesday to review the nearly $25.9 million budget for 2023 and have district residents vote on the spending package.

The meeting and vote will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Poland Regional High School auditorium for residents of Mechanic Falls, Minot and Poland. There are 15 articles on the budget warrant.

The budget passed by the district’s board of directors in April is a $1.63 million, or 6.74%, increase over the current year’s $24.25 million.

Whatever budget amount is agreed upon Tuesday night will be presented for a yes or no validation vote at polling stations in the three towns June 14.

The regular instruction budget line alone increased over $1 million, 10.93% more than this year’s expenses.

A 10.33% hike of over $222,000 is proposed in the student and staff support budget, mostly due to increases of $118,611 in health services and of $69,327 in technology.

Minot: A $112,938 increase that represents an additional $76 per $100,000 of assessed property valuation.

Poland: An $86,549 increase that represents an additional $20 per $100,000 of assessed property valuation.
