Diane L. Getz

LEWISTON – Diane L. Getz, 78, a resident of Livermore Falls passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Central Maine Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born October 26, 1943, in North Tonawanda, New York, the daughter of Carl F. and Myrtle I. (Sutter) Krupp. She was a member of the North Presbyterian Church in North Tonawanda, New York and attended First Baptist Church in Livermore Falls and Jay Baptist in Jay. She was a homemaker all her life. She loved to bowl, shop, ride Jim’s motorcycle and ATV, and watch NASCAR races and attend them in New Hampshire. She loved to travel with the VFW Auxiliary to Council Meetings, Eastern States, National Conventions, and all through the state. She was Department of Maine VFW Auxiliary President from 1996-1997. She enjoyed traveling to the different states, especially her night on the town in Hawaii. She was District #9 President from 1989-1990 and made District President of the year with 110% membership. She was Auxiliary President of the Frank L. Mitchell Post #3335 in Jay from 1985-1986, which she made Auxiliary President of the Year. She held offices and chairmanship on all levels of the auxiliary. She was auxiliary treasurer for over 10 years. She loved doing things for the community and the veterans. She enjoyed going to Togus and the Veterans Homes, marching in parades, and going to the monuments to honor our veterans. She was a member of the Committee who helped build the POW MIA Remembrance Bridge Monument in Jay. She was treasure for the Memorial Day Committee of Jay, Livermore Falls, Livermore, and Fayette for over 20 years. She also worked on the Tri-Town Blood Drive and organized the VFW Auxiliary Drive for over 20 years setting up coffee, phone communications, and finding workers. She loved raising money for the VFW Buddy Poppy Drive, which she participated in since she had joined the auxiliary in 1978. She is a life member of the Frank L Mitchell VFW Auxiliary Post #3335 in Jay, life member of the VFW National Home, American Legion Auxiliary Unit #10 in Livermore Falls, Amvets Auxiliary #33 in Jay, Maine Vietnam Veterans Vigil Committee in Lisbon, Department of Maine Post Commanders and Presidents Club, Farmington Emblem Club #460, Livermore Falls-Jay Senior Citizens, AARP, Western Maine ATV Club, Maine Snowmobile Association, Red Hat Society, and a former member of the United Bikers of Franklin County. She is survived by her companion Jim Richardson of Jay, her son, Ronald Lempenau and companion Debbie Williams of Las Vegas, Nevada, her daughter, Jacqueline Lempenau and companion John Fournier of Jay, 2 grandchildren, Jeffrey S. Payeur and wife Maureen of Livermore and Ethan Dusik and wife Heather of Standish, great-grandchildren, who was the sunshine of her life, Hunter, Archie, Lucius, twins, Elijah and Gabriel Payeur and due in November another set of Payuer twins, her brother-in-law, Randy Cook of Grand Island, NY, her niece, Danielle Schalch of Wilson, NY, her nephews, Brandon Schalch of Buffalo, NY, Mark Cook of Germany, and Wayne Schalch of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jim’s Children, Josh Richardson of Milton, VT., and Julianne Richardson of Hallowell, and her extended family, Bonnie and Jim Pluff of Villages, FL., Earl and Jane Cook of Sanborn, NY, Mark Cook and wife Shirley of Belews Creek, NC, and Wade Cook of Villages, FL. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Brenda Cook and sister-in-law, Mikey Cook. Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 PM on Wednesday, May 18th at the funeral home. Members of the military auxiliary organizations will meet at 6:15 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date at Elmlawn Cemetery, North Tonawanda, N.Y.
