Perley Emery

LEWISTON – Perley Emery of Auburn passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 13, 2022 at Central Maine Medical Center. He was born May 24, 1952 in Rumford to Hazen and Clover (Swan) Emery. He graduated from Telstar High School. He was in the Air Force for three years. He worked for the State of Maine as a boiler operator and was the proud owner of Poverty Hill farm.He was President of the Western Maine Rabbit Breeders Association, Maine State Rabbit Breeders Association and Essex County Rabbit and Cavy Breeders Association. He was a past member of the Eastern Maine Rabbit Breeders Association, Cumberland County Rabbit Breeders Association and York County Rabbit Breeders Association. He was a member of the Lovell Masonic Lodge, the Society for Creative Anachronisms and was active with the Common Ground Fair, Rabbit barn from the beginning. He is survived by his wife, Mary Merriam; his children Hazen Emery and wife Madeleine French Emery, Adelaide Mae Emery, Georgette Elaine Emery, Nellie Berry and husband Bruce and Richard Emery and wife Amanda; 16 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren;his sister Norma Knight and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and two granddaughters.Family and friends may attend visitation on Thursday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 45 Main St., South Paris.
