Shirley (Mason) Mahaney
CANTON – Shirley (Mason) Mahaney, a resident of North Turner, was born to Kenneth and Mae (Libby) Mason on Dec. 14, 1930, the eldest of 12 children. She left us to fly with the angels on April 2, 2022, at the age of 91. Shirley lived a very fulfilling life, one full of love and unforgettable memories with those close to her. Shirley married the Love of her entire life, Henry Mahaney on Aug. 7, 1948. Together they raised their two daughters Sharon and Kathy. Shirley was a devoted member of the North Turner Presbyterian Church. During her life Shirley enjoyed her employment and most of all the friends she made during the time she spent working at Benjamin Taylor repack, Livermore Shoe, Decoster Egg Farm, Ponderosa, Lone Pine, Blue Line Diner and Berry’s Store. Shirley was a social butterfly. Her favorite past times always included spending time with those she loved. She enjoyed playing cards with Patty, Rene, Aunt Jean, Dale and Gloria Bryant and visiting with her grandchildren. Her hobbies also included caring for her beloved cats and collecting bells.Shirley is survived by her daughter Sharon Quimby and son-in-law James Hanson II both of Turner, sisters, Ann Morris of Lewiston, Jean Tucker of Canton, Judy Gallop of Monmouth, Marsha and Raoul LaPlante of East Livermore, Meredith Bigg and companion Leroy Hiscock of Turner, Margaret Blodgett of Jay, and Joanne and Roger Keene of North Turner, brother, Randy and Julie Mason of North Turner, brother-in-law Kenneth Judd of Livermore, sisters-in-law, Vicky Mason of North Turner and Rose Marie Mason of Canton, grandchildren James Hanson III of Livermore, Jayson Hanson of Winthrop, Jennie Hanson and Brian Hodgeman of Sabattus, Jared and Kerissa Hanson of Minot, Jordan and Jen Hanson of Buckfield, Frederick and Edith Quimby of St. Albans, great-grandchildren Hailey, Carter, Mason, Maxwell and Mackenzie Hanson, Whitney and Cassandra Quimby, as well as her great-great-grandchildren, Justin, Craig and Avea Quimby. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.Shirley was predeceased by her parents Kenneth and Mae Mason, husband Henry Mahaney, daughter Kathy Hanson, son-in-law, Craig Quimby, mother-in-law, Jennie Mahaney, brothers Jerald and Robert Mason, sister Gayla Judd, brother-in-laws, Dort Bigg, Richard Gallop, Millard Morris, Phil Tucker, John Campbell and George Mahaney, sister-in-laws Catherine Townoski and Elizabeth Saucier, niece, Rosalind (Saucier) Lee, and nephew Scott Mason.Shirley’s family would like to express our most sincere gratitude to the staff at Pinnacle in Canton as well as to Beacon Hospice.
