The Catholic Charities SEARCH (Seek Elderly Alone, Renew Courage & Hope) program in Auburn is in need of volunteers to support isolated seniors in Franklin and Oxford County areas.
A difference can be made by investing a few hours a week to an isolated senior through providing a friendly visit, a ride to the grocery store, or a weekly companionship phone call, according to a news release from Catholic Charities SEARCH & RSVP Programs.
In Franklin County, volunteers are needed in the following areas: three seniors in their 70s and 80s in Jay; a married couple in their 80s in Livermore Falls; three seniors in Farmington, one in her 90s and two in their 80s; two in Carthage in their 80s; and one in their 70s in Chesterville and one in their 60s in Strong.
In Oxford County, volunteers are needed in Carthage, Dixfield and Rumford to support a few seniors in their late 70s and 80s.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
