Lucille G. Arel

AUBURN – Lucille G. Arel, 98, of Lisbon, passed away early Monday morning May 23, 2022 at The Hospice House with her family at her side.

She was born in Auburn July 31, 1923, one of 12 children born to Alphonse and Albina (Prefontaine) Cote. Lucille was educated in Auburn schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community. On June 1, 1946 she married Armand Arel and together they settled in Auburn to raise their family. He predeceased her in 2013.

Lucille worked for many years in local shoe manufacturing until her retirement. She was a longtime parishioner of the former St. Louis Church in Auburn and enjoyed cooking, crafts, cross-stitch and time at the beach. But her greatest enjoyments were the company and pleasure of her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and especially Sunday dinners. She was a loving, devoted and hardworking wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

She leaves behind her daughter, Joan Giguere and husband Robert of Lisbon; her grandson, Rodney Giguere and his wife Rhonda of Scarborough; three grandchildren, Jaimie, Jenna and Jessica; her sister, Marguerite St. Onge of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.

Lucille was predeceased by her husband, Armand; and 10 brothers and sisters.

Visitation Fortin Group/ Auburn, Wed. June 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral Mass Sacred Heart Church Thursday June 2 at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
