LEWISTON – Rita (Delorme) Rioux, 87, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 4, 2022 at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her loving husband and family. Born in Lewiston on Feb. 13, 193,5 to Amadee Delorme and Aurore Leclerc Delorme. She married the love of her life, Daniel R. Rioux on May 29, 1954. Together, they had four children. She attended and was a member of Holy Family Church.

Rita attended St. Mary’s Grammar School and graduated from St. Dominic High School in 1953. She had developed life-long relationships with some of her classmates, enjoying occasional breakfasts together. She worked for Kresge’s Store on Lisbon St. in Lewiston for 15 years and then for McCrory’s for 10 more years until her retirement in 1997.

She was a devoted Wife, Mother, and beloved “Memère.” She so enjoyed playing games with her grandchildren and awarding them prizes that she had picked out for each one of them specifically.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel Rioux; three of their children and spouses: Dan and Sue Rioux of Florida; Joline and Pascal Boulon of France; Dick and Tammy Rioux of Massachusetts; as well as eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by daughter, Marie-Anne; three siblings: Germaine Delorme Brochu, Jeanne D’Arc Delorme Grondin, and Lorraine Delorme Brochu

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022, from 4 – 8 p.m., at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass honoring Rita’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, July 9, 2022, 11 a.m., at Holy Family Church. Committal services will then follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
