The congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol deserves our respect and gratitude for the work its members have done to expose how Donald Trump dishonored his oath of office and failed in his duty as a leader.
Unlike many of their colleagues, Jan. 6 committee members have resisted grandstanding for their own political benefit. These dedicated elected officials have worked together in the service of upholding the Constitution and the rule of law.
I believe their work will help restore the damage Donald Trump did to our national spirit, and to America’s reputation in the world.
Reps. Liz Cheney’s and Adam Kinzinger’s closing statements at a recent committee hearing hammered home that every witness — with the exception of Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley — has been an appointee, staff or family member of Donald Trump.
It was the people close to him who finally chose to pull back the curtain and acknowledge the lengths to which a narcissist will go to satisfy his ego.
