Norm Gellatly’s recent letter in these pages (“Could the DOJ put Trump out of commission?,” Aug. 13) seems to me to be unworthy of publication in the Sun Journal or any other legitimate news source.

It is a ubiquitous list of insults and personal attacks against Donald Trump, the like of which we can all read anywhere and everywhere any day of the week. How does this advance the national debate? Calling Trump names like “dangerous imposter,” “buffoon,” “boorish foe” and “menace,” while accusing him of having a “vocabulary reservoir barely more than 100 words,” is ludicrous to say the least.

He provides no examples to support his opinions; he simply hates and reviles Donald Trump, the only U.S. president since Thomas Jefferson and James Madison to put America first, for which he has been persecuted, spied on, impeached and slandered for at least six years.

People should think about that. What does it tell them? It tells me that the Washington Swamp hates the American people and wants to destroy all we hold dear.

In closing, it might be helpful to remember that those who can’t argue on the merits always resort to ad hominem attacks. Surely this newspaper in the great state of Maine, where many of my family members still live, is better than that.
