50 Years Ago: 1972

The Auburn Educational Council voted Monday night to go ahead with its Rent-A-Kid program and appointed a committee to coordinate the project with Lewiston.

The program is more or less a job bank for teenagers, with students from 13 to 15 years old listed for jobs they would like to do. Then if someone wanted to hire a youngster to babysit for example, he would call the Rent-A-Kid line.

25 Years Ago: 1997

Armand Bussiere, commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9150, read during a memorial service honoring POWs and MIAs from all wars Friday morning at Heritage Park in Lewiston. Veterans from the area have been holding a memorial service periodically for the past 10 years.
