Peter Kaynor

PERU – Peter Kaynor passed away peacefully on Sunday Sept. 18, 2022, while being hugged by his adoring wife Sandy.

Peter John Kaynor was born in Rockville, Conn., to Doris (Bower) Kaynor and the late Kenneth W. Kaynor. He grew up in Tolland, Conn.

Pete was a reader from a young age, and a fan of Perry Mason, contributing to his profession as a lawyer. He moved to Maine and practiced law for over three decades. He truly cared about his clients, employees and colleagues.

On Sept. 28, 1996, he married the love of his life, Sandra (Lane) Kaynor. This month would have been their 26th anniversary. Together, Pete and Sandy spent time in England and at the Island House in Florida. More than vacations, these trips resulted in lifelong friendships with people they met. On one trip to England they discovered some of their best times were spent sitting on a park bench just being together. Upon returning home to Peru, Pete suggested getting a bench. Sitting on this bench under their maple trees and looking out over the mill pond with Sandy, Peter would often remark that it was one of the best purchases he ever made.

Another favorite place was his beloved Camp As-Is. It was not only a great place to fly fish, but also a great place to relax. Peter also loved to relax in British pubs which he called “the town’s living room”. Here he recently became more interested in the Premier League. Hearing Pete yell in excitement at the TV, one might not think the Premier League was a source of relaxation, but it was.

Peter was a member of King Hiram Masonic Lodge #57 of Dixfield and Golden Sheaf Chapter #114 Order of the Eastern Star of New Gloucester. Of all the things Pete was, his favorite was being Husband and Best Friend to San, and Dad to their dogs.

Peter is survived by his wife and best friend Sandra Kaynor of Peru, and their Black Lab Granger, Little Girl Dachshund Alice Luna, and “Dingo” Parker.

He is also survived by his mother, Debbie Kaynor of Greensboro, N.C., brother and sister-in-law Bob and Sue Kaynor of Durham, N.C., brother and sister-in-law Mark and Julie Kaynor of Radford, Va., mother-in-law Elizabeth Lane and sister-in-law Barbara Lane of Peru, and many family members and friends.

Peter was predeceased by his father Ken Kaynor, his father-in-law Russell Lane, and his dogs Ollie, Forrest, Mousse, Trover, Thornton, Nigel, Corona and Alastor.

The family would like to thank the countless friends and family members who have offered assistance. Sandy would especially like to thank Rose Marie Woods whose love and help has been and continues to be invaluable.

Friends and family are invited to sign the online guest book and share memories with the family at http://www.meaderandson.com.
