In November, Lewiston has an opportunity to elect Peggy Rotundo to the Maine State Senate. Her previous service as a legislator brought many key services to her district, but also to the whole state of Maine.

As a social worker who primarily supported older people, I was especially impressed with Peggy’s sponsorship of the bill that created the Silver Alert System in Maine, allowing the Maine Department of Public Safety and Communication, working with local law enforcement, to help locate persons with dementia and other disabilities who may have gone missing.

The Silver Alert System has been used dozens of times since its inception in 2010, and it makes a tremendous difference in helping families know they are not alone.

It’s Peggy’s kind of informed and compassionate advocacy that we need in the legislature.
