Human remains found at Acadia National Park

Authorities are investigating after human remains were found Friday at Acadia National Park.

“National Park Service rangers and the Maine State Police investigated a set of human remains found in the park last week. It is not a criminal case, but it is still under investigation by the NPS,” a spokesman for Acadia National Park said in a statement issued Wednesday.

The spokesman said no further information is available at this time.

Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit responded to the park last week to assist with the investigation, which has since been taken over by the National Park Service.
