LEWISTON — Safe Voices honored Androscoggin Bank as one of four awardees at the agency’s Fall Mixer and Awards Ceremony Oct. 20.
Androscoggin Bank received the agency’s Community Partner Award for its dedication to social and environmental responsibility and its commitment to working with area nonprofits as community partners.
“Androscoggin Bank sees their work with Safe Voices as a true partnership,” said Safe Voices Executive Director Elise Johansen, according to a news release from the Auburn-based agency. “They join us in this work, on behalf of survivors of domestic abuse and sex trafficking, and in efforts of community improvement and lifting up the cities of Lewiston and Auburn. These are the kinds of partnerships that can create transformative and lasting change.”
With its 2021 announcement of becoming a Certified B Corporation, Androscoggin Bank became one of only nine banks in the nation to achieve such a certification. To become certified, corporations must commit to being leaders in inclusive, equitable and regenerative practices, including binding commitments to high social and environmental standards, changing their corporate governance structures to be accountable to all stakeholders, and exhibiting transparency in these efforts.
“We are seeking to go well beyond a check,” said bank CEO Neil Kiely. “We want to build real and deep relationships with organizations like Safe Voices who inspire us and who want to collaborate in new ways to significantly increase the positive impact we can achieve together in our communities.”
Additional awardees at the event included Sheila Barnies of Lewiston, who received the Volunteer Impact Award; Kayla Duvall of Madison, who received the Shining Star Staff Award; and Dovetail Contulting LLC’s Andy Jackson of Portland, who received the Kimberley Wilson Community Transformation Award.
