100 Years Ago: 1922

Dr. Walter W. Crites of this city, graduated last June from the Tufts Dental College with the intention of becoming associated with his brother Dr. L.L. Crites who has offices in the Manufacture National Bank building. Dr. Crites was born and educated in Lewiston. He graduated from Jordan High School in the class of 1918 and entered Tufts College.

50 Years Ago: 1972

A giant Santa Claus and snowman will be present at the public Band Boosters supper Friday night at Memorial School in New Gloucester. Hand stuffed poodles will be sold and stuffed animals as part of the project to raise money for strictly band expenses. These include expenses to attend all-state auditions, etc. Toys will be available for sale. Tickets will be on sale from any band musician, or may be purchased at the door, committee chairman John Nash said.

25 Years Ago: 1997

Two people have applied for the vacant animal control officer job in Leeds, Administrative Assistant Jane Wheeler said Thursday, the last day to apply for the job. Wheeler said the Board of Selectmen will interview one applicant next week.

Selectmen approved two junkyard permit renewals Wednesday after a public hearing. AC Auto Sales and Murdock Auto Body and Sales will be allowed to maintain a junkyard for another year, Wheeler said.
