PERU — Some lucky person will win a doll with five handmade outfits being raffled at the 15th annual Hot Colors Food Pantry Drive on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Peru Fire Station.

The gift was created by Elizabeth Lane, 90, who has been sewing doll clothes for 82 years.

“It is a good thing to do it up big for some little person to have a nice Christmas gift,” her daughter, Barbara Lane, said. “This year, the package comes with an 18-inch doll dressed in a beautiful outfit, a blue cape with boots, a colorful sweatshirt with rust colored pants and brown shoes, a bright red dress with red shoes and panties, blue overalls and tee, (pajamas), slippers and housecoat.”

“Thankfully, my mom got the doll done for the raffle before she took a fall and fractured her hip. She’s very upset that she cannot be there!” Barbara Lane said.

Tickets for the doll and outfits are $1 each and the drawing will be held in the evening with all proceeds going to food pantries in Peru and Dixfield.

Lane, owner of Hot Colors Screen Printing and Design in Norway, is hosting her 15th annual fundraiser.

“I am so excited to do this and so very happy the doll raffle is back!” she said. “Doing this food drive brings so much joy to my soul. I’m not setting any goals this year, but I am hoping folks are as generous as they have been in years past.”

“We are still dividing the food and money equally between the Servant’s Heart Food Pantry in Peru and the Dixfield Common Food Pantry,” she said.

Requested items include spices, vanilla and baking soda.

“These are not usually available and folks need them,” Lane said.

Others requests are personal hygiene products.

Christmas T-shirts will be given to those who visit while supply lasts.

“It’s a “thank you gift for attending,” Lane said.

The food pantry drive will be held in bay one on the first floor of the fire station. It’s requested that there not be any early birds or deliveries after 2 p.m.
