100 Years Ago: 1922

The Fore Street Sewing club held a most enjoyable Christmas party at Mrs. Wellington Twitchell’s Thursday afternoon. Thirty members and guests enjoyed the program.

50 Years Ago: 1972

President Nixon proclaimed Thursday as a National Day of Mourning for former President Harry S. Truman and directed that flags on all federal buildings and facilities be displayed at half-staff for the next 30 days. The President’s proclamation was issued about an hour after Truman’s death was announced in Kansas City.

25 Years Ago: 1997

The annual Holiday Candlelight Service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Minot Center Congregational Church, Minot Center Hill Road. Pastor Frances Lodge will conduct the service and special music will be presented by Wayne Bridgham, Cathy and Marc Laplante. Light refreshments will be provided after the service. Everyone is welcome. FMI, call Helen Clifford.
