PORTLAND — The Edward Little boys hockey team earned the 800th win over head coach Norm Gagne’s career with a 5-3 victory over South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete on Thursday at Troubh Arena.

Gagne, who earned his first victory in 1974, has the second most victories by a high school boys hockey coach in the country, trailing only Bill Belisle of Mount St. Charles in Rhode Island.

Caleb Albert and Campbell Cassidy each scored a goal in both the first and second periods for the Red Eddies, who improve to 10-2 with the victory. Tate Morse finished the Red Eddies’ scoring with a third-period goal.

Hewitt Sykes scored in the second period for the Red Riots (5-7), cutting Edward Little’s lead to 3-1. Tobey Lappin added a pair of goals in the third.

BOYS BASKETBALL
MT. ABRAM 64, TELSTAR 25:
 Payton Mitchell dropped in 16 points to pace the Roadrunners (12-3) past the Rebels (1-13) in Salem Township.

Kaden Pillsbury contributed 12 points to Mt. Abram’s victory.

Telstar’s Levi Cole-McDonnell hit two 3-pointers and scored a team-high nine points.

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 59, HALL-DALE 39: Jace Bessey scored 26 points and the Phoenix (12-3) rolled pas the Bulldogs (6-7) in Jay.

Bessey scored five points in each of the first two quarters and had eight apiece in the third and fourth quarters. Lucas Towers added 10 pointes and Elie Timler contributed nine.

TJ Wilson led Hall-Dale with 15 points, while Jackson Leach chipped in 10.

MADISON 67, OAK HILL 44: Callan Franzose had 29 points and 12 rebounds as the Bulldogs (8-7) cracked the .500 mark with the win at Madison.

Kayden Hibbard scored 10 points for Madison, while Shyre Bonito pulled down eight rebounds.

Maverick Swan and Ethan Vattaso had nine points apiece for Oak Hill (3-13).

WAYNFLETE 43, ST. DOMINIC 38: Matt Adey scored 12 points and Ishan Reese added 11 to help the Flyers (10-6) rally past the Saints (6-9) in Portland.

Waynflete outscored St. Dom’s 13-6 in the fourth quarter.

Taylor Varney led St. Dom’s with nine points. Jack Brocke and Mason LaFlamme each scored eight.

LEWISTON 54, WINDHAM 47: Yusuf Dakane paced the Blue Devils (13-3) with 19 points as they collected a victory over the Eagles (5-11) in Windham.

Creighty Dickson scored 13 points for Windham. Owen Combes added nine.

MCI 53, LEAVITT 34: Brayden Fitts scored 16 points for the Huskies (4-12) in their win at Pittsfield.

Owen Moore added 15 points and Caleb Kennedy 11 for MCI, which led 30-10 at the half.

Brett Coburn scored 14 points for Leavitt (5-11).

GIRLS BASKETBALL
MT. ABRAM 64, WISCASSET 9: Abigail McCarty’s 16 points led the Roadrunners (7-8) in their home win over the Wolverines (0-15) in Salem Township.

Bailea Haines added nine points and Abigail Wilcox contributed eight for Mt. Abram.

Qiana Hyman led Wiscasset with seven points.

OXFORD HILLS 72, GORHAM 47: Sierra Carson poured in a game-high 27 points, including five 3s, as the Vikings (14-1) rolled past the Rams (8-8) in Paris.

Ella Pelletier pitched in with 18 points, making three 2s, three 3s and three foul shots, for Oxford Hills, which took a 61-22 lead into the fourth quarter.

Zoe Dellinger led Gorham with 16 points.

WINDHAM 43, LEWISTON 32: The Eagles (9-6) took control in the second half and downed the Blue Devils (4-12) in Lewiston.

After scoring eight points in each of the first two quarters, and trailing 20-16 at halftime, Windham outscored Lewiston 27-12 in the second half.

Abbey Thornton scored a game-high 14 points for the Eagles, while Kylie Garrison added eight and Stella Jarvais had six.

Natalie Beaudoin led Lewiston with 12 points, and Koral Morin made three 3-pointers and finished with 11 points.

WAYNFLETE 47, ST. DOMINIC 28: Lauren McNutt-Girouard led a balanced offense with 11 points as the Flyers (5-11) defeated the Saints (2-13) in Portland.
