WINSLOW — A pedestrian was not seriously hurt Friday evening when hit by a Winslow Department of Public Works plow truck that was sanding Benton Avenue, according to police.
The truck, driven by Lee Shuckrow, 61, was near the Marden’s Surplus & Salvage warehouse at 100 Benton Ave. when the accident occurred, according to Winslow police Chief Leonard Macdaid, who said he was citing information in a Waterville police report.
Waterville police covered the incident because it involved a municipal truck from Winslow.
Macdaid said Monday that pedestrian Joshua Carpenter, 32, of Winslow was attempting to cross Benton Avenue and was not in a crosswalk at the time.
“The public works truck was backing up and struck the pedestrian,” Macdaid said, citing the report.
Waterville police Officer Mikayla Hodge investigated the incident.
It was not clear Monday if Carpenter had been taken to the hospital after the crash.
Contacted Monday, Sgt. Scott Dumas of the Waterville Police Department said he did not know if Carpenter had gone to the hospital.
“He wasn’t seriously injured,” Dumas said.
