The Foster home across from Hobbs Pond in Norway after the Feb. 4 fire. Submitted

NORWAY — A benefit dinner will be held at the VFW 0787, 58 East Main Street, Paris on Saturday, March 4 from 4-7 p.m. for Don Foster, who is a Korean War Navy Veteran who lost his home to a fire in the early morning hours on February 4 – the coldest day of this year.  He made it out of the fire with only the clothes he had on.

His hands were badly frostbitten but he is recovering well and is looking forward to returning to his property and setting up his new home.

He and his wife Ruby moved into their home across the street from Hobbs Pond in Norway in 1980, and had lived there together until Ruby moved to a nursing home last August.

He and his wife want to express their immense appreciation to the first responders and for all of the support and contributions from the community and friends. Both he and his wife are overwhelmed by the generosity and caring they have received.
