Dennis B. Goodman, M.D.

RUMFORD – Dennis B. Goodman, M.D., 84, died Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at the Rumford Hospital. He was a resident of Rumford, where he worked as a General Surgeon from 1992-2006.

He was born on April 25, 1938, in Hollywood, Calif., to Samuel and Annette (Bright) Goodman. He graduated from University of Colorado, Boulder, School of Medicine in 1964. He completed a pediatric residency in Baltimore, Md., and he completed his surgical residency in San Diego, in the U.S. Navy. Commander Dennis Goodman, MC, USN, served as a trauma surgeon during the Vietnam War on the USS Repose. He then worked as a trauma surgeon at Arcadia Methodist Hospital, Calif., where he met his wife, Sylvia,

Dr. Goodman is survived by his beloved wife, Sylvia, who resides in Rumford. Other survivors include his sister, Barbara Seigel of St. Louis, Mo., his children: Jennifer Giorgetta and husband, Timothy, of San Diego, Calif.; Daniel Goodman of Colorado; Alisa Belskis and husband, Jamie, of Greensboro, N.C.; Melissa Goodman of Gorham; and Tyler Lunt and wife, Tawny, of Reno, Nev. He was the grandfather of 10 grandchildren: Devin, Rylan and Caeden Giorgetta; Maia and Taylor Belskis; Leela, Evelyn and Kian Goodman-Morris; and Caroline and Emily Lunt.

Dennis enjoyed spending time with family. He had a passion for fishing, especially in bass tournaments, with the local bass club, Western Maine Anglers. His hobbies included making fishing jigs and flies, as well as golfing and playing the piano.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday March 23, 2023, at the Meader and Son Funeral Home 3 Franklin St., Rumford. Interment will be in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
