Mignonne A. (LaRocque) Mailhot

AUBURN – Mignonne A. Mailhot, 98, a 77 year summer resident of the family cottage on Taylor Pond as well as a winter resident of Leesburg, Fla., passed peacefully late afternoon on Sunday March 12, 2023, at her daughter Claire’s house on Taylor Pond, with Claire, her granddaughter Amy and great granddaughter Ella at her side. Claire had been her primary care giver for the last year and a half.

Mignonne was born in Lewiston on Oct. 30, 1924, a daughter of the late Edmond and Emilia (St.Hilaire) LaRocque. She was educated in local schools and was a graduate of Lewiston High School.

She married Delphis (Babe) Mailhot in 1946, after he returned from his service during World War II. He was the former co-owner of Marcous & Harvey Grocery Store in Lewiston. She was predeceased by her husband Babe in 1996.

Mignonne and Delphis were proud parents of their five children: Louise Ouellette (Marc), Claire Mailhot, Irene Bernard (Paul), Jane Steiner (Steven) and Donald Mailhot (Lisa). She also welcomed seven grandchildren: David Bruce Ouellette, Matthew and Sarah Bernard, Emily Pratt Manzon and Geoffrey Pratt, Kelly Mailhot and Amy Mailhot Rousseau as well as eight great-grandchildren to the family.

With her passing, the LaRocque and Mailhot families lose the last family member of her generation. She will be missed by all.

Mignonne lived a long, healthy and satisfying life surrounded by family and friends, especially her friends at the family cottage on Taylor Pond. The family would like to send a very special thank you to the entire staff at Androscoggin Home Health Care & Hospice, for the care and support they gave to our mom in her last days.
