Virginia M. “Ginny” Stone

AUBURN – Virginia M. “Ginny” Stone, 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. She was born in Lewiston on April 3, 1926, the only child of the late Ethel Conant and Lloyd Huntley.

She graduated from ELHS in 1943 and went on to become a Registered Nurse, graduating from the Central Maine General Hospital School of Nursing. After graduation she married the love of her life, George L Stone. They spent 59 wonderful years together before his passing in 2007.

Ginny had a vibrant personality and made new friends everywhere she went. She had many interests including cooking, quilting, knitting and bird watching. Together with George they caned chairs, made beautiful stained glass pieces and played the piano. Music, dancing and traveling were an integral part of their lives. Family was the center of her life but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by one son Gregory and wife Lise of Auburn, two daughters-in-law, Terri Stone of Albion and Janice Gawrys of Lewiston; six grandchildren, Amy Finnen and partner Michael Hickey of Auburn, Adam Stone and wife Maggi Milligan of Augusta, Steven Stone and partner Ann Tlumac of Winthrop, Christopher Stone and wife Heather of China, Jamie Rimes and husband Brandon of Brewer, Alexander Stone and wife Arika of Lewiston; and seven great grandchildren, Danelle, Brandon, Kimberlee, Anthony, Autumn, Greyson and Ruby.

She was predeceased by her husband George; two of her sons Robert L. and George M. Stone; and a very special friend Raymond Sylvester.

The family would like to extend a most heartfelt thanks to Schooner Estates where she resided since 2015. The socialization and loving care she received there, added quality years to her life.

A memorial service honoring Ginny’s life will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Saturday April 1 at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred Plourde Parkway, Lewiston.. A memorial gathering will be held at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. just prior to the service. Burial will be private at a later date.
