As the largest independent ski area in the east, Saddlebackers are committed to the future of outdoor recreation for all. Their foresight and integrity are the foundations used to create a personal, not corporate, mountain experience for generations to come. That is why their guests’ experience is second to none.

You’ll never find a place like Saddleback. Saddleback Mountain isn’t just a geographical feature with a business model that’s visited by tourists. Instead, Saddleback is a community that is as rugged and beautiful as the landscape. Those who work there have the mountain in their DNA and are driven to build Saddleback’s legacy. The same is true of those who come to visit.

Many hear Saddleback and instantly think, “SNOW.” I know I did. Now I realize Saddleback Mountain has so much more than incredible skiing and riding terrain. With mountain biking, hiking, dining, concerts, and a wedding venue, there’s a mountain of fun even when the lifts stop spinning.

And of course, right in Saddleback’s front yard in the beautiful village of Rangeley. Rangeley is truly a sportsperson’s nirvana. Fishing, golfing, hiking, biking, ATV’ing, you name it and Rangely Lakes Regions has it, even gold panning.

Oh, you haven’t experienced a summer day at Saddleback yet? Well, imagine standing in a field of blooming Lupine with the valleys and lakes stretching as far as the horizon will allow. Mount Washington is prominent to the West while Canada looms to the North. Feel the damp sweaty shirt on your back as you crush some trail mix while recuperating on the 4,120’ summit, your heart filled with aspiration after pounding from a good hike, and you realize, “This is living.” You’ll hear eerie loons, spot the rare Bicknell’s Thrush, or drop your jaw when you see your first moose.

Mountain biking is available for those seeking an adrenaline rush. The trail crews have tirelessly cut trails, built berms, and product tested [for safety of course] our downhill mountain biking flow trails. There are 5 trails of varying difficulty plus a beautiful uphill trail. I never thought I’d be an uphill guy, but I now get why people love it. It’s the repetitive movement that puts you into a flow state. There’s nothing like a good pump up the hill to get your body and mind right.

If hiking is your thing, the Appalachian Trail crosses our summit and there is a terminus of the Flyrod Crosby trail terminates on the mountain. Saddleback is a dual summit mountain with expansive 360° views. Park, hike, then relax at The Pub for a celebratory libation and hearty meal. The Sunsets alone are stunning and worth the drive from town. That’s why so many get married up the mountain. Visit saddlebackweddingsmaine.com for more info on saying “I Do” to our view.

Saddleback is known for its four seasons of fun. There’s always something happening at the mountain. Find a list of our events and activities online at www.saddlebackmaine.com.
