MINOT — Two drivers were taken to a Lewiston hospital Friday afternoon after a Jeep and a pickup truck collided head-on on routes 11/121 near the Minot Country Store.

Police said Maureen Mooney, 62, of Poland was driving her 2018 Jeep south on Minot Avenue when her vehicle collided with a 1989 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by David Madore, 40, of Auburn.

Madore had been headed north and was making a left turn onto East Poland Road when the collision occurred, according to officials from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office, who were investigating the crash. Early indications were that Madore had turned in front of the Mooney’s Jeep, police said.

Neither driver had passengers.

Mooney and Madore were taken to a Lewiston hospital to be examined for injuries described as not life-threatening.

Fire crews from Auburn and Mechanic Falls assisted at the scene.

Police rerouted traffic around the crash site as the victims were being tended to and cleanup got underway. The road was reopened a short time later.
