COLLEGE SOFTBALL
CMCC SWEEPS SMCC: The Mustangs (24-10) collected a pair of swift victories over the Seawolves (16-13) in South Portland.
CMCC won the opener 9-1 and the second game 13-2. In the first game, the Mustangs used 14 hits and strong pitching from Olivia Scott, who went 3 for 3 and the plate and struck out 12 batters in the circle. Olivia Gallan drove in three runs and Paige Ouellete homered and drove in three runs.
Game 2 featured another demonstration of CMCC’s offense, which produced 19 hits. Gallan drove in five runs on three hits.
COLLEGE BASEBALL
MAINE 6, HARTFORD 2: Jake Rainess hit a leadoff home run and the University of Maine earned its second straight win, beating Hartford 6-2 on Friday in Orono.
Colin Fitzpatrick pitched seven innings, allowing two runs on nine hits while striking out six and walking three to earn the win for the Black Bears (19-12).
Jeremiah Jenkins hit an RBI double and Jake Marquez had an RBI single as Maine scored twice in the third. Connor Goodman was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a run scored for the Black Bears. Ryan Turenne added two hits for Maine.
Noah Rivera was 3 for 3 with a double for Hartford (2-26).
MEN’S LACROSSE
ST. JOSEPH’S 11, JOHNSON & WALES 8: Will Levesque and Oak Hill graduate Xavier Michaud each had four goals as the Monks (9-7, 7-2 GNAC) beat the Wildcats (10-5, 5-4) in Standish.
Tiger Hopkins, another former Oak Hill standout, added two goals for St. Joseph’s.
