Yvette Parent

LEWISTON – Yvette Parent, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Marshwood Center from Alzheimer’s Disease complications.

She was born in Lewiston on Jan. 3, 1934, a daughter to Cyrille and Reinelde (Guilmette) Laplante. She was raised in Lewiston and attended Holy Cross School and Lewiston High School.

She was introduced to Reginald Parent by his cousin, a neighbor of the Laplante family. They soon became inseparable and were married on Sept. 6, 1954 at Holy Cross Church. The pair had a wonderful marriage. They raised two sons and shared many wonderful years together.

In life, Yvette loved nothing more than spending time with her family, including many nieces and nephews, and her many friends. Whether it be holidays, birthday parties or any kind of celebration – Yvette was always there to light up the room with her contagious smile and sense of humor.

She was active in sports and particularly loved softball, tennis, and badminton. She and Reggie especially enjoyed camping with family, and in retirement, camping in Florida.

Yvette had a very close relationship with her sisters and brother, which was a lifelong bond unlike any other. She loved having fun and making people smile with her jokes and banter.

Yvette spent most of her career as a stitcher of shoes, pocketbooks, and garment bags, as well as some years of bookkeeping and other office work.

Yvette was a proud Franco-American who was always in service to others. She had a deep faith and was active in her church. She will be greatly missed.

She was predeceased by her parents; her siblings Fern Dodge, Irene Francoeur, Cecile Gagnon and Rev. Laurent Laplante.

Yvette leaves behind her three sisters, Lorraine Ouellette, Carmelle Laplante and Simonne Paul; her sons Donald Parent and wife Doris, Laurent Parent and wife Jenifer; her four grandchildren, Emily Libby and husband Matt, Gerard Parent, Mary Beth Ellis and husband Cameron, and Joel Parent and wife Tracy. She also leaves behind her five great-grandchildren, Eben Ellis, Coen Ellis, Beckett Parent, Clara Parent, and Madeleine Libby.
