PORTLAND — Sugarloaf Mountain Resort of Carrabassett Valley is one of eight recipients of MEMIC awards, which honor best practices in workforce safety, injury management and workforce partnership.

The resort won for Excellence in injury management, showing outstanding commitment to its workforce through prompt, professional, efficient handling of claim issues, according to a MEMIC news release.

Communication between MEMIC and Sugarloaf’s human resource department is frequent and effective. Sugarloaf successfully provides light-duty work for its employees that have restricted work capacity because it is important for the resort and its workforce. Officials take the time to speak with injured workers and do not hesitate to contact the MEMIC claim team when they feel an employee may need assistance.
