AUGUSTA — An Augusta convenience store that has been a frequent target for robbers was targeted again early Sunday, according to police.
The suspect in the robbery early Sunday at the Big Apple at 36 Stone St. in Augusta is described as a white male who is between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall and 160 to 200 pounds. City police are investigating a robbery, reported at 4:08 a.m. Sunday, at the Big Apple at 36 Stone St., according to a statement released by Deputy Chief Kevin D. Lully.
The caller who reported the incident told police an unidentified male had entered the store and demanded money and merchandise.
There were no injuries reported and no weapon was displayed, according to Lully.
The suspect fled the scene before police arrived, and as of Sunday morning, no suspect had been identified.
The suspect is described as a white male who is between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall and 160 to 200 pounds. He was wearing a black sweatshirt, black sneakers, light-colored pants and gloves.
Augusta police ask anyone with information on the robbery or the whereabouts or identity of the person involved to contact the criminal investigations bureau at 207-626-2370, ext. 3418.
The Stone Street convenience store and gas station, located near Cony Circle, has been robbed several times, including once in January of this year and twice in 2022, with another nine robberies having been reported since 2014.
