LEWISTON — City officials Friday released more details on two forums the city will host to get public input on safety in the community.

One forum will be held by city officials Tuesday, Aug. 22, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Connors Elementary School cafeteria, next to Lewiston High School.

Another forum will be held by police officials two days later, Thursday, Aug. 24, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Connors Elementary School cafeteria.

At both forums, officials are looking for input from citizens and will answer questions.

A joint statement released by Mayor Carl Sheline and City Council President Linda Scott stated:

“We believe it’s time for a community meeting regarding safety in our city. We always welcome your thoughts and concerns and we want to provide an opportunity for our residents to come together to share their feedback and ideas for progress. We hope that this forum starts the beginning of a community conversation that will lead to positive changes and outcomes.”

In its post of the upcoming community forum, Lewiston police said among the goals of their forum will be to hear about citizen concerns, share mandatory departmental protocol, answer questions and “gather ideas from the community on how to better foster continued cooperation between the police, the citizens of Lewiston, and the community as a whole.”
