A thin layer of loam is applied Friday to the 1.5-acre Auburn Savings Recreation Field in Mike McGraw Park at 280 Bartlett St. in Lewiston to improve turf quality, field playability and safety. The field will reopen in about three weeks, weather permitting, after seeds have germinated and roots are established, Megan Bates, Public Works deputy director of highway/open spaces, said. “The work being done will result in marked improvements, and we appreciate residents’ patience during the field closure,” she said.
