100 Years Ago: 1923

One of the pleasant social events of the week was the WLU Membership Tea which took place at the home of Mrs. John M. Hyde on Main Street, Lewiston, Friday afternoon from three until five o’clock. The affair was marked by a charming informality, and was given for the purpose of the members becoming better acquainted. The house was beautifully decorated with asters, calendula, and cosmos from the gardens of Mrs. C. M. Plummer who was chairman of the committee on decorations.

50 Years Ago: 1973

A get-acquainted dance was held Thursday evening at Central Middle School, the first dance of the new school year. Students in grades seven and eight were present. Committee members were June Brault and Ann Paradis, tickets; Denise Dostie and Michelle Arsenault, records; Paul Erwin, Melanie Clair, Val Pennell, Diane Belanger and Richard Bernier, decorations; Susan Rogers, publicity; John Capen, Tony Morin, Val Pennell and Diane Belanger, refreshments, William A. Levesque, principal, supervised the event.

25 Years Ago: 1998

A Coming Out Celebration” will be the topic of a Horizons/55 program from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Senior Health Information Center, Lewiston Mall. Jeralyn Maurer, guest relations J. MAURER, coordinator at Central Maine Medical Center, will discuss how to overcome shyness.
