Paul Romeo Coulombe

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Paul Romeo Coulombe, 80, born Dec. 13, 1942, died on Sept. 20, 2023, at a Port Charlotte, Fla., hospital after a fall.

He was predeceased by his mother Rita Chalifoux Goulet, her husband Rosaire Goulet and his brother Norman Coulombe.

Left to mourn are his son Paul Andre Coulombe, daughter Noelle A. Jenkins, grandsons William S. Jenkins and Thomas J. Jenkins, sister and brother-in-law Sandy and Ron Wilson, brother Robert Goulet, sister in law Peggy Coulombe and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by former wife and mother of his children, Danielle Levesque Hird.

Paul graduated from Lewiston High School in 1960. He attended Morehead State University in Morehead, Ky., and Al Somer’s Umpire School in Daytona Beach, Fla. He umpired in the mid-west baseball minor league, worked for Air France, drove taxis in New York City and was a house painter for most of his working life.

Paul connected easily with people with his playful sense of humor, candid personality and childlike wonder. He was known for the Nine of Clubs in his weekly poker group. Paul was an artist, an athlete, a craftsman, an astrologer, an eccentric, resilient man whose smile and laughter brought joy to many who will miss him dearly.
