POLAND — Town Manager Matt Garside told selectpersons Tuesday night that a revised expansion plan for Ricker Memorial Library will likely be presented to them at their next meeting.

Garside said the Library Working Group “has met and reviewed a reduced scope design that may be feasible with funds on hand and those previously approved.”

Voters approved a $850,000 bond in 2022 for the expansion but rejected a proposal to add $550,000 to it in June.

The $550,000 request was based on unanticipated costs to update the heating and ventilation system throughout the building.

Since then, the group has been working with architect Michel Giasson in modifying the original plan, which had included enlarging the children’s room, renovating the downstairs for more meeting rooms, storage space, a custom-made table dedicated as a work area for community groups, revamped parking and entrances and updated plumbing, heating and ventilation system.

In other business, the board approved soliciting bids for a plow truck chassis and plowing/sanding equipment for the new 2023 or 2024, 10-wheeled truck. The purchase was approved earlier but due to a manufacturing backlog it is uncertain when delivery will be made.

The board also approved soliciting bids for a solid waste compactor for the transfer station.

The board learned that Regional School Unit 16 property in Poland was mistakenly assessed at $219,912. It was abated because the property is tax exempt.
