In response to shootings Wednesday night in Lewiston and shelter-in-place orders, many businesses and offices are closed Thursday including the following:
• Maine state courts and facilities in Lewiston and Auburn are closed, including Lewiston District Court, Auburn Superior Court and the violations bureau/service center.
• Auburn schools
• Bates College
• Bowdoin College
• Central Maine Community College
• Central Maine Healthcare closed all physician offices today in Lewiston, Auburn, Topsham, Lisbon, Gray, Poland and Manchester. All elective surgery canceled at Central Maine Medical Center.
• Hannaford supermarkets throughout Maine closed until 10 a.m.
• Lewiston Bureau of Motor Vehicles
• Lewiston municipal offices and buildings
• Lewiston schools
• Lisbon schools
• Lisbon town offices
• L.L. Bean has closed all facilities throughout the state
• Maine College of Art and Design
• MSAD schools in Gray and New Gloucester
• MSAD schools in Turner, Leeds and Greene
• RSU schools in Litchfield, Sabattus and Wales
• RSU schools in Mechanic Falls, Minot and Poland
• State government offices in Lewiston and Auburn
• Saint Dominic Academy, Lewiston and Auburn campuses
• Topsham Bureau of Motor Vehicles
• The University of Maine Lewiston-Auburn Campus (Remote and online classes may continue per instructor’s or organizer’s discretion.)
• University of Maine canceled Thursday classes in Orono and Machias
The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office issued a shelter-in-place order for the entire county late Wednesday night. Residents were asked to stay in their homes and keep doors locked.
