100 Years Ago: 1923

One of the large Hallowe’en parties will be held in Heth’s dancing academy, Lisbon street, on Monday evening, when the Abbott Brothers have the annual party. Elma W Abbott is chairman of the committee in charge, and the affair promises to be unusually pleasant. There will be a number of charming features. The affair is strictly by invitation only.

50 Years Ago: 1973

Youth of the East Auburn Baptist Church will be entertained at a hayride and Halloween party Saturday, Oct 27 and those attending will meet at the church.

The hayride through fields and wooded areas of the Mt. Gile area wil end up at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Saucier where a barn spook walk will be conducted. A halloween party will follow with refreshments being served before the glowing fireplace at the Saucier home.

The event is being sponsored by the Pioneer Girls Club of the church, under the the direction of Mrs. Joel Ellis and Mrs. Peter Records, guides.

25 Years Ago: 1998

The Wallace  Assembly Wives will meet at 7 pm Sunday, Nov. 1 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, on East Avenue. Nel Bernard and Jim Nutting, co-owners of the Maine Art Glass Studio will give a slide presentation showing the origins of stained glass and will give a demonstration. All 4th degree wives are invited.
