Lester Keith Wing

OXFORD – Lester Keith Wing was born July 19, 1958 in Southington, Conn. to June and Keith “Pappy” Wing.

Lester moved to Maine in 1960, attended school in Mechanic Falls and graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1976. Lester enjoyed playing music with his father in various bands and together in their DownHome Bluegrass band. Les was also a lover of car shows and attended many, along with his DJ’ing for several regular Cruize-ins.

He was an active supporter with the fire departments and rescue teams in younger years of his life. Les was involved in heroic efforts to save the Grand Poland Spring Hotel when it burned years ago.

He worked as a traveling CNA, foreman at Oxford Homes Manufacturing and lastly as a parts specialist at Lashin’s Auto Salvage in Oxford. He was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Patriots, NASCAR and Drag Racing. Les and Beth worked as a great team, putting on fabulous feeds for groups from two to two hundred-plus. In between seasons, they were busy gardening and canning their produce, so they could share with many others. For a special treat they loved going to Connecticut to shop, gamble, and people watch.

Les passed Dec. 27, 2023 at the Auburn Hospice House with his wife Bethany and family by his side.

Les was predeceased by his parents; and survived by his wife, Bethany; constant companion, Ginger, his yellow tabby cat; daughters Tammy Blake and husband Jim, and Amber Brawley, all from Illinois, Jeannie Cannell and husband Dan, Candice Wilson and husband Travis all from South Paris, Hannah Truman and husband Tyler from South Portland; along with six beautiful grandchildren; and two sweet great-granddaughters.

A celebration of life will be held Jan. 6, 2024, at the Oxford Recreation Hall, 223 King St., Oxford, from 1 to 4 p.m. Light refreshments and beverages will be served. Please feel free to bring stories, memories, pictures, or whatever you would like to share.

Arrangements are in the care of the Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Rd. in Casco where tributes may be shared at http://www.hallfuneralhome.net.
