AUBURN — Taylor Varney and Jack Brocke each scored 14 points, and St. Dominic Academy continued its undefeated start with a 61-40 victory over Old Orchard Beach in a Western Maine Conference boys basketball game Saturday.
Campbell Perryman and Kai Taylor scored seven points apiece, and Donel Tangilamesu and Logan Carey each added six for the Saints (8-0).
Trot Moody led the Seagulls (4-5) with 14 points, and Brayden Mansur tallied eight.
MOUNTAIN VALLEY 60, WINTHROP 48: Tanner Henry scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Falcons (5-5) past the Ramblers (5-4) in Rumford.
Jake New added 13 points and Ben Desalle 10 for Mountain Valley.
Braden Branagan led Winthrop with 15 points and Cole Bard pitched in with 10.
LAKE REGION 76, POLAND 41: Jackson Libby finished with 21 points, and Jacoby Bardsley got 14 of his 20 points in the first half as the Lakers (4-7) built a 36-13 lead on their way to a win over the Knights (1-7) in Naples.
Brock Gibbons chipped in with 14 points and Aidan Roberts scored nine.
Damon Martin led Poland with 14 points.
BOYS HOCKEY
CHEVERUS/YARMOUTH 7, MT. ARARAT/LISBON/MORSE/HYDE 3: Evan Hankins and Quinn McCoy each scored twice as Cheverus/Yarmouth (5-1) defeated Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse/Hyde (0-9) at Troubh Ice Arena in Portland.
Owen Walsh, Sam Bradford and Owen Cheever each added a goal.
WRESTLING
WOLFPACK WINS CHEVERUS TOURNEY: Thanks to nine wrestlers advancing to the championship finals, and three winning individual titles, Windham/Gray-New Gloucester/Westbrook won the Zeb Leavitt Memorial Tournament at Cheverus High School in Portland.
The Wolfpack racked up 178.5 points, beating out two teams that tied for second, host Cheverus/Falmouth and Noble, with 161 points. Edward Little placed fourth with 106.5 points. Lisbon/Oak Hill scored 48 points to finish eighth.
Leading the Wolfpack were titlists Ben Corriveau (120 pounds), Ayden Cofone (126) and Gavin Tanner (175). Lexi Hoot, one of five Gray-New Gloucester students on the team, was the runner-up in the 106-pound division.
The Red Eddies were led by 113-pound titlist Cooper Blair and weight class runners-up Evan Madigan (126 pounds) and Merlin Smith (190).
Gabi Turner (113 pounds) and Demetrius Clark (215) were consolation titlists to lead Lisbon/Oak Hill.
