Detective Jacob Richards of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office investigated the victim’s complaint. After attempting to talk to Savage at his house with no success, Richards requested an arrest warrant.

Richards arrested Savage on Monday on a warrant charge of Class A gross sexual assault and two counts of Class E violation of condition of release.

Archer conducted Savage’s initial appearance Wednesday from an Oxford County court via Zoom to the Franklin County Detention Center.

According to Richards’ affidavit filed at a Farmington court, Savage allegedly held the woman down at one point during the assault.

Savage remained at the jail Thursday, according to a corrections officer.

A conviction on a Class A crime, a felony, carries a maximum 30 years in prison and up to a $50,000 fine. A conviction on a Class E crime, a misdemeanor charge, has a penalty of up to six months in jail and a maximum fine of $1,000.
