The Twin City Thunder couldn’t complete a third-period comeback in a 4-2 loss against the Junior Bruins in a USPHL NCDC New England Division contest at Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn on Friday.

Jake Terra led the Bruins with two goals and Savante Strandberg had two assists.

After a scoreless first period, Nick LeVasseur opened the scoring for the Junior Bruins (16-19-1, 33 points) early in the middle frame.

Twin City (10-21-2, 22 points) fought back in the middle of the second period when Edvin Robertsson tied the game at 1-1. Scott Lagos and Gavin Connolly had the assists.

Jake Terra responded in the closing minutes of the second period to give the Jr. Bruins a 2-1 advantage heading into the intermission.

Shane Baker extended the Junior Bruins lead to 3-1 midway through the third period when his shot beat Twin City goalie Jeffrey Kreidler (36 saves).

Cole Roenick got the Thunder within a goal with about two minutes to play when the puck got past Bruins goalie Griffin Davis (48 saves).

Terra added an empty-net goal to secure the win.

In the first period, Shane Taddia of the Bruins and Aidan Bender of the Thunder each racked up 17 penalty minutes, all coming in the final two minutes of the stanza. Each had a five-minute major for fighting, a 10-minute misconduct, and a two-minute minor.

The teams meet again at Norway Savings Bank Arena on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
