BETHEL — Granite Backcountry Alliance (GBA), a nonprofit organization developing backcountry skiing terrain in New Hampshire and western Maine,  is coming to The Gem Theater in Bethel, Maine, to screen the Granite Backcountry Film Festival on Saturday, February 24.

GBA is teaming up with Mahoosuc Land Trust, a nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving land to further biological diversity, recreational access, and thriving communities in the Mahoosuc region, to host the film festival and raise awareness for the critical role of community partnerships in backcountry stewardship.

Proceeds support the Black & White Glade in Andover and Rumford, ME, a pioneering collaboration between GBA, MLT, and Black Mountain of Maine (BMOM) at MLT’s Rumford Whitecap Mountain Preserve.

Produced each year as a celebratory, backcountry community event, the annual film festival line-up provided by the national nonprofit Winter Wildlands Alliance is characterized by stories that show the connection between humans and wild winters.

The films focus on outdoor stewardship, grassroots advocacy, backcountry adventure, and snow cinema by human-powered athletes, brands, and outdoor enthusiasts. There will be a matinee show at 4 PM (doors open at 3 PM) and an evening show at 7 PM (doors open at 6 PM).

Film fest attendees will enjoy food and drinks at The Gem, connect with representatives from GBA, MLT, and BMOM before the show, and the chance to win raffle prizes. Online tickets are $15 for GBA, MLT, and Gem members, $10 for children 12 and under and $20 for all others.

If there are seats left, tickets will be for sale at the door for $25. This event has historically sold out so grab tickets today at https://thegemtheater.com/movies/granite-backcountry-film-festival/.
