The Maine Nordiques offense continued to roll on Saturday afternoon against the Northeast Generals.

Maine completed the weekend sweep with a 7-3 victory in an NAHL East Division game at the New England Sports Village in Attleboro, Massachusetts.

“It’s the same story as last night; I thought we came out, not bad, but a little flat,” Nordiques coach Nick Skerlick said. “We had a power play early in the game and didn’t generate anything from, had a lot of turnovers and they made it 1-0. The boys woke up after that and similar fashion to last night, played hard and played well.”

The Nordiques defeated the Generals 6-2 on Friday night.

Tomek Haula and Nils Forselius each had two goals in the Saturday afternoon victory.

The teams went back and forth in the first period, starting when Sixten Jennersjo gave the Generals (23-24-2, 48 points) a 1-0 lead midway through the stanza.

Maine (32-12-5, 69 points) took a 2-1 lead when Haula and Charles Tardif notched goals.

Ryan Panico, David Helledy, Zion Green and JP Steele all had assists on the Nordiques’ first two tallies.

Tyler Ramm notched Northeast’s second tally before the first intermission.

Maine exploded in the middle frame, beginning when Haula notched his second goal 12:12 into the second period. Forselius scored 18 seconds later for a 4-2 advantage.

Forselius scored another goal 65 seconds after that, with Jake Bernadet and Helledy setting the tally up for a 5-2 lead.

The three goals all came on the man advantage.

“They were quick,” Skerlick said. “Forselius got two and Haula had two — one of those three and one in the first period. … Cole Hipkin had a really nice goal. Tardif scored again and (Shane) Kozlina scored. We got five different goal-scorers, and over the weekend we had seven or eight. It was great.”

Hipkin capped the scoring off in the middle frame for the Nordiques when the puck got past Generals goalie Toby Hopp. Laurent Trepanier had the assist on the tally.

Brandon Spaulding scored in the third period for Northeast before Kozlina responded for Maine with four minutes remaining.

The Nordiques welcome the New Jersey Titans to The Colisee on Friday (7:30 p.m.) and Saturday (7 p.m.).

NORDIQUES ADD THREE AFFLIATE PLAYERS

Three affiliated players joined the Nordiques roster on Saturday, including Hugo Daniel of Yarmouth.

Daniel, 16, led North Yarmouth Academy this season with 26 goals and 18 assists in 34 games.

Also joining Maine is defenseman Cole Estey, who played at Tabor Academy in Marion, Massachusetts, this season, where he had three goals and eight assists in 34 games. Estey signed a tender for next season with the Nordiques in January.

Anderson Sandquist played most of the season with the Maine Nordiques Academy 18U team.
