Jeanne D’arc Labbe

LEWISTON – Our sweet matriarch Jeanne D’arc Labbe gained her angel wings on Feb. 27, 2024. She was born on Feb. 4, 1929, to Alfred and Dorilda Galipeau. As a child she lived on the family farm in Bowdoinham where she rode her horse Chubby to the Fisher Road one room schoolhouse. At the age of 14 she worked at the textile mills to help support her family. She continued to work at Bates Mill as a doffer until she retired. She married Roland Laroche in 1948. Together they raised five children who adored both parents. In 2006 she married her longtime partner, Robert Labbe. Although Roland and Jeanne divorced, they worked together to celebrate all family gatherings as a united unit, Family always comes first. Her beautiful smile, giving heart and unconditional love made anyone who knew her love her. She was always aware of the needs of others and spent her life showing kindness and generosity to her family and friends. She loved all her nieces, nephews and friends with all her heart. She often shared the words of wisdom that she lived by. Our hearts are broken but her legacy will live on in us forever. At 95 she showed us that it’s not years in your life that count, it’s the life you live in those years.

She was predeceased by both her parents, her siblings Theresa, Robert, Norman, sister Cecile, Silvio and Rita, Romeo, Marcel and grandson Jonathan.

She is survived by her children, Roger, Gene (Cindy), Ronald (Donna), Cecile (Roger), Michael (Julie).
