Jocelyn J. (Poussard) Plourde
LEWISTON – Jocelyn J. (Poussard) Plourde, 73, of Lewiston, passed peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
The daughter of Valere B. Poussard and Evelyn Martin Poussard, she was born in Lewiston on April 4, 1950. She faced a lifetime of illness. Despite this, Jocelyn was one of the most giving and compassionate people we knew. She was loved by many. Jocelyn enriched every life she touched.
The second youngest of a large and close family, Jocelyn graduated from Holy Cross and Lewiston schools. Jocelyn married Carroll Joseph Plourde on Nov. 30, 1996. She had no children of her own, but delighted in her nieces and nephews as well as her grandnieces and nephews, of which there are many.
For 25 years she sang with the Androscoggin Chorale. She was a voice instructor. Before becoming disabled, Jocelyn worked as an administrator in various offices in Lewiston-Auburn and Pottersville, N.Y.
She was a member of Holy Cross Church in Lewiston. She was the choir director at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church of Lewiston. She always sang in the choir of every church she attended so long as her health allowed. Music was an important part of her life. The Lord gave her a beautiful voice and she used it for him. Jocelyn was a Lay Carmelite as of 2017.
She is survived by her sisters Evelyn Martel of Lisbon Falls with her husband Richard, Jeannine Tardiff of Auburn, Lillian Poussard of Lewiston; 11 nieces and nephews and their spouses; many grandnieces and nephews and a few great-grandnieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her mother, Evelyn and father, Valere; her husband, Carroll; her brothers Paul, Maurice, and Gerald, her sister, Claudette and her brothers-in-law Maurice, Ray and Gerald.
Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation for Jocelyn Monday, March 18, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Pinette Dillingham and Lynch Funeral Home, 305 Alfred A Plourde Parkway, Lewiston, ME 04240. A Mass of Christian burial at Holy Cross Church will occur Tuesday, March 19, at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 1080 Lisbon St., Lewiston, ME 04240.
