MADRID — High Peaks Alliance plans on Monday, April 8, to host a solar eclipse viewing with expansive views of the High Peak Mountains.
The public event is set for 1:30-4 p.m. at the Perham Stream Birding Trail, 554 East Madrid Road.
Protective glasses are necessary to view the eclipse. Supporters of HPA will receive complimentary eclipse glasses. Otherwise, glasses are available for purchase, but people should email HPA Executive Director Brent West at [email protected] to reserve them.
This property is off the beaten path and requires diving down a dirt road. Parking along the road will be possible as the parking area fills. There is space in a field near the parking lot, but for those that wish to get the best experience there is a short walk to our back fields which will offer the best experience. People should bring any food or water you may want and a portable chair.
For more information contact Brent West at 207-491-2750 or via email.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
