Leslie B. Knapp

ROXBURY – Leslie B. Knapp, 91, died Wednesday March 20, 2024, at his residence in Roxbury.

Leslie was born in Rumford on July 7, 1932, and was a son of the late Elwin and Gertrude (Lavallee) Knapp. He was a graduate of Mexico High School and served in the U.S. Army as a PFC. He worked for Boise Cascade paper mill in Rumford and retired from the material handling dept. in 1993 after more than 43 years.

He was a member of Blazing Star Lodge #30 AF and AM, Royal Arch Chapter #56, Kora Temple Shrine, Napoleon Ouellette Post #24 American legion, Robert Shand Post #1641 VFW, and Rumford Falls Aerie #1248 FOE.

Leslie was married in Roxbury in September of 1952 to Kathleen Reed, who died in Lewiston on June 5, 2005.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen Gallant and husband James of Roxbury, son, Kristopher Knapp and wife Amanda of Town Creek, Ala.; grandchildren, Amy Martin and husband Tim, Alex Gallant and fiancé Jennie, Cheyenne Knapp, Brooke Knapp, Madison Knapp; great-grandchildren, Natasha Gallant, Makayla Dostie and husband Jacob, Michael Martin, Savannah Gallant, Connor Mason, Kaleb Gallant and Leela Biffle; great-great-grandson, Grayson Dostie; brother, Richard Knapp of Mexico; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Knapp, sisters Joan Duxbury and Sylvia Touchette.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday March 27 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Meader and Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford. Interment later in the spring will be in Pineview Cemetery in Roxbury.
