Roger J. Doiron

LEWISTON – Roger J. Doiron, 91, of Lewiston passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Jay, on Feb. 12, 1933, the son of Mathias and Irma (Leclerc) Doiron.

Roger graduated from St Francis High School in Biddeford. In 1959, after serving in the U.S. Army’s 6th Tank Battalion in Korea, he received a BBA degree from Clark University in Worcester, Mass. During his lifelong insurance career with Union St Jean Baptiste, Catholic Family Life, and ACA Assurance he received several other professional degrees. He was a member of the Board of Directors for Ste Croix Credit Union for approximately 20 years.

He was an avid Red Sox fan. He was a tremendous athlete and was fortunate to play baseball for Clark University as well as semi-pro ball. He will be remembered for the love of his family, out-going personality, sense of humor, charm, and care for his many insurance clients.

Survivors include his wife, Monique Couture, whom he married on May 14, 1960; two sons, Maurice and his wife Julie of New Hampshire, Marc and his wife Kimberly of Florida; five grandchildren, Kyle and his wife Amanda of Tennessee, Corey and his wife Allie of North Carolina, Craig and his wife Megan of Alabama, Tyler and his wife Kendall of New Hampshire, and Sarah of New Hampshire; five great-grandchildren, Cullen, Roman, Hadley, Grayson, Maren and baby girl-to-be; one sister, Anita Buttarazzi and her husband Bob of Scarborough and sister-in-law, Madeline Lemieux of Lisbon. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces and friends that were close to him as well.

Roger was predeceased by his parents Mathias and Irma; his brother, Norman; and stepmother, Elodie.

Roger’s family wants to thank the loving staff and friends of d’Youville Pavillion for the wonderful care, support, and comfort that he received.

A memorial mass celebrating Roger’s life will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 27 at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Church. Committal services along with a Military Honors Service will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.

A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, March 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Pinette Dillingham and Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway in Lewiston, 784-4023. Online condolences and sharing of memories may be expressed at http://www.lynchbrothers.com
